Humans are the lock and key to doing our best work for animals. The problem is our attitudes about people often undermine our efforts. Mainstream stories villainize, blame, and shame pet owners, community members, and other animal advocates. Too much precious energy and resources go to problematic strategies and infighting. Too often, pet families are separated, and animals go without the care they need.

In this session, we explore how treating and talking about people with dignity can transform our work in animal care and well-being.  Explore how our beliefs and experiences shape the lenses through which we show up - interacting with community members and other people in our sector. Learn about the Messaging with Dignity framework and how better messaging and stories can help us unlock our work with people. We will share case studies and real examples, along with practical guidance for anyone working to help animals.
